What is AMP?

AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is a form of HTML which is specially designed for the fast loading of web pages on mobile. AMP is created with an aim to speed up the delivery of content through the use of a form of HTML code known as AMP HTML. AMP is a way to build web pages for static content (static content pages are that kind of pages that don’t change according to the user’s behavior), that allows the pages to load much faster than regular HTML page.

The numbers of mobile-only Internet users are increasing day by day, and most people who have other devices also they are also preferring mobile phones to access the internet, we can say that mobile is the future of the internet. This particular trend has driven the attention of leading companies to create the Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP to make mobile pages much faster.

You can also see the impact of AMP; currently, AMP is used by leading publishers around the world, including BBC, Guardian News, The Financial Times, CNN, Forbes, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and many others.

What is PWA?

Progressive Web Application (PWA) is the latest internet revolution. This new web technology enhances the user experience by giving the user more opportunity. This invention is similar to a hybrid of native and online apps. A Progressive Web App (PWA) uses modern technologies to provide an app like experience to the users.

Some Qualities of AMP

  • Speed

Today everyone wants speed. When it comes to content presented on a mobile device then this demand is essential, because nobody wants to wait too long for accessing a website the user want quick results. An average Accelerated Mobile Page (AMP) loads very much quicker than a regular web-page. Mobile users are increasing too fast these days and the fast speed of Accelerated Mobile Pages plays a major to deliver the content as quickly as possible on the mobile devices.

  • Accessibility

Accessibility is a little bit similar to speed but totally different. The accessibility plays a major role for Accelerated Mobile Pages. The user accesses a website to gain information or to buy products and services to the website should be easily accessible. Accelerated Mobile Pages are helpful in improving the accessibility of the web pages. If the users can access the contents faster, then he can make faster decisions.

  • Better User Experience

Accelerated Mobile Pages provide the best and better user experience to the users. On mobile devices, the user experience is a key to hold the user on the website. If you properly look at the format of Accelerated Mobile Pages you will see that it’s a lot cleaner.

Pros and Cons of AMP and PWA

  • Pros of AMP

It Boost the Load Time of Website

This one is the biggest advantage of AMP. AMP is very fast. Everyone loves to access those pages that don’t force them to wait, so AMP has the ability to boost the speed of the website and can bring more visitors.

It Increases Mobile Ranking

AMP does not contain any type of special for the mobile ranking but the qualities (fast loading speed) of AMP influences the mobile ranking.

It is very difficult to track the user activity on AMP pages.

Not Idea for E-commerce Websites

It’s not really adjustable for e-Commerce websites. The entire AMP practices perfectly suite publisher-based websites (like news and other stuff)

It Increases Mobile Ranking not Search Engine Ranking

The AMP has not the ability to prove you rank on search engine it provides mobile ranking (more mobile users).

Good Speed is Achieved but with the help of Cache

Google doesn’t offer any technology to make the pages super fast it uses the cache to store the data of related pages.

PWAs are just like web pages. Like regular web pages, they start instantly and don't require the process of physical installation to get started.

No need of App Store

Users don't need to open an App Store or another indirect experience when they want to use them because they are just like web pages.
